Rod Bickel - Nashville
Rod started cycling in 1985 due to a knee injury, but never envisioned it turning into a career. "I went to watch the Memphis In May Triathlon in 1988, volunteered for the run leg and decided that next year I would do the bike leg on a relay team. From that point I started racing in triathlons and duathlons every year."
Rod first got into the cycling business when he couldn't find triathlon specific products or a good wrench to tune his bike. Rod's first bike shop started as a hobby and was just a way to pay for his own bike goodies and racing. A short time later Rod met bike fit guru John Cobb in Shreveport. John helped Rod get started in the bike business and worked with him on many bike fit sessions. "I don't know if I should thank John or cuss him for getting me into this business. Now I enjoy helping customers find the best cycling equipment and fitting them properly to their new bike. " "The biggest joy about cycling is not just the fitness you gain but the great people you meet and the wounderful places you see while riding. I can honestly say I have truly met life long friends thru cycling."

Jason Oakley - Nashville
jason@rbscyclery.com
As a teenager, Jason started backpacking and exploring trails in and around middle Tennessee. The summer after high school, Jason went to Colorado to backpack for a week and "never came home". "When I learned that mountain bikes could move me through the trails faster than hiking, I was HOOKED!" "Road riding took a little more time to fall for, but that happened while I toured and rode the back roads in and around Vermont". "I have ridden many trails through the years but by far the best, in my opinion, are the tight, rooty single track trails in the East." Jason worked out of his garage shop for many years. He has been working as a professional bike mechanic in bicycle shops since 2002. Jason has experience in restoring vintage bicycles. He is skilled in correct frame alignment, wheel building, and overhauling internal hubs. He is also well-versed in fixing modern bicycles that are equipped with ten and eleven speed groups. "I love a challenge, and problem solving is one of my favorite things to do in the shop, so feel free to bring me some problems." |

"I can recall the many hours tinkering in my parents garage as a kid on my first bikes. I consistently broke them and would spend more time repairing than riding." Along came a drivers license and Todd gave up riding for driving. "I didn't ride a bike for A road bike purchase soon followed and cycling quickly became and obsession. "I got my first job When Todd isn't working or in class you'll find him out and about with friends burning up the road or trail on one of his six bikes.
